Thirty30 Tennis - Shorter Faster Speed Tennis - Have You Tried It Yet?

Updated: Nov 26, 2019

In this fast-moving era, tennis needs to be sped up and the future of tennis requires having alternative shorter scoring methods.

Please let me introduce you to ‘Thirty30’ tennis, the alternative to ‘sets to 4 games (T-B at 3-3) + no ads + no lets’ (i.e. ‘Fast4’) and the ‘3rd set 10-point match (or super or champions) tie-break’.

Everything is identical to traditional scoring except:

(1) EVERY game starts at ‘30-30’ (i.e. ‘30-all’) - announced “Thirty-Thirty” (‘Thirty30’ - the clue is in the name!).

(2) At 6 games all, a ‘short set tie-break’, i.e. first to 5 points with sudden death at 4-4, is played.

(3) Players serve alternative games and only change ends after 2, 6 and 10 games are played.

The ‘No Ad’ (i.e. ‘sudden-death’ deuce) & ‘No Let’ Rules are NOT used.

A set takes no longer than 20 minutes to complete on average.

Thirty30 can reinvigorate tennis, help drive participation and encourage competition for all age groups and all abilities.

The shorter Thirty30 matches are ideal for shorter format (e.g. 2 hours, ½, 1 or 2-day) competitions where all of the players are fully engaged for the entire duration of the event by using round-robin or compass-draw formats.

Youngsters especially like the faster moving more exciting format and the Thirty30 scoring method also provides orange and green ball mini-tennis players with a more seamless transition to yellow ball tennis traditional scoring.

Thirty30 (T30) can be described as the tennis equivalent of cricket’s faster more exciting Twenty20 (T20) format.

Thirty30 tennis produces shorter more dynamic matches that still FEEL, LOOK and SOUND like traditional tennis.
